The expected value under the Yule model of the squared path-difference distance

چکیده
The path-difference metric is one of the oldest and most popular distances for the comparison of phylogenetictrees, but its statistical properties are still quite unknown. In this paper we compute the expected valueunder the Yule model of evolution of its square on the space of fully resolved rooted phylogenetic trees withn leaves. This complements previous work by Steel–Penny and Mir–Rosselló, who computed this mean valuefor fully resolved unrooted and rooted phylogenetic trees, respectively, under the uniform distribution.

A theoretical relation is presented between the seismological Fourier amplitude spectrumand the mean squared value of the elastic response, which is defined by Gaussian distribution. Byshifting a general process to its mean value, spectrum of the mean squared value of the displacementis computed from the Fourier amplitude spectrum and the real part of the relative displacementtransfer function ...
متن کاملThe expected value of the squared euclidean cophenetic metric under the Yule and the uniform models
The cophenetic metrics dφ,p, for p ∈ {0} ∪ [1,∞[, are a recent addition to thekit of available distances for the comparison of phylogenetic trees. Based on afifty years old idea of Sokal and Rohlf, these metrics compare phylogenetic treeson a same set of taxa by encoding them by means of their vectors of copheneticvalues of pairs of taxa and depths of single taxa, and then c...
متن کاملAn Efficient Method for Selecting a Reliable Path under Uncertainty Conditions
In a network that has the potential to block some paths, choosing a reliable path, so that its survival probability is high, is an important and practical issue. The importance of this issue is very considerable in critical situations such as natural disasters, floods and earthquakes. In the case of the reliable path, survival or blocking of each arc on a network in critical situations is an un...
متن کاملPath Following and Velocity Optimizing for an Omnidirectional Mobile Robot
In this paper, the path following controller of an omnidirectional mobile robot (OMR) has been extended in such a way that the forward velocity has been optimized and the actuator velocity constraints have been taken into account. Both have been attained through the proposed model predictive control (MPC) framework. The forward velocity has been included into the objective function, while the a...
متن کاملStudying the Expected Returns Based on Carhart Model Com-pared to CAPM Model and Implicit Capital Cost Model Based on Cash and Capital Flow of Growth and Value stocks
The purpose of this study was to examine the expected returns of Carhart model compared to the capital asset pricing model and the implicit capital cost model based on cash and capital returns of growth and value stocks. The statistical population consisted of the companies listed in Tehran Stock Exchange and the time domain is between 2007 and 2016. By choosing Cochran sampling, 126 companies ...
